You can already get it.
Yeah, that guy scares me. In the TV ads, he gets suggestions for some type of music (samba?), and remarks, "My wife doesn't even know I like samba!"
Replace "My wife" with "John Ashcroft" and "samba" with "big boobs", and you can see the problem... -

Re:beware the differences between the 1.6 & th
The DDR400 being used in the 1.8 & 2.0 machines is apparently not that great (typical of Apple!)
Actually, Apple is using very nice samsung memory (with a lifetime warranty in the g5s. And if you click on the picture in that link, you'll see that those are samsung chips on a samsung PCB, which is the same RAM corsair, OCZ, and even mushkin has often used to get outstanding overclockable memory. These manufacturers just test the memory (if you're lucky) and cover it up with a heatspreader, which will void your warranty if you remove it to see what's underneath. -
Think carefully about paying more.
More and more companies are basing their business plans on taking advantage of the overclocker, gamer, case modder, or PC enthusiast who doesn't have much technical knowledge. These have slick sales literature and fancy graphics. They also may have no one at the company who knows or cares about the technical details of the product. I feel qualified to say this because, back when I was an electrical engineer, I have designed power supplies and industrial power control devices.
"Monster cables" won't give you better audio than cheap wire of the same gauge. Similarly, paying a lot of money for a power supply is very unlikely to get you any difference in computer performance, provided you buy a quality low-cost supply.
We pay $26 wholesale for our 350 Watt KingWin Kwi-350W power supplies, and they are fine. Froogle.google.com says they can be bought retail for $32. The AnandTech article discusses the Kingwin KWI-450, which they say costs $95. Why didn't they review the supply from Kingwin that is 1/3 the cost?
One guess is that the entire AnandTech article is a hidden Directron.com advertisement. Maybe Directron.com does not want you to know that you don't need to pay more, and that you will derive no benefit from giving Directron more profit.
The AnandTech article says, "Directron.com let us pick one of every new power supply off their shelves in order to put together a sample of 18 of the newer power supplies on the market right now."
The article says about the Kingwin KWI-450WABK, "We received our quad fan Kingwin supply well before the TTGI units had hit American soil. The unit was well received in the lab, but as we noticed when the TTGI units arrived, practically identical in construction. TTGI and Kingwin obtain their components from the same manufacturers in Taiwan."
"Practically identical" does NOT mean identical. Directron's 350 Watt TTGI TT-350SS is $28.99. It looks a lot like the KingWin 350 Watt supply, but is different; the TTGI supply does not have most of the labels that are on the KingWin supply, for example.
Look below at that link for what Directron says about their warranty: "Customer is responsible for returning defective products including DOA due to manufacturer unless testing is paid before shipping." DOA means "Dead on Arrival". Very clearly, Directron says that they do NOT stand behind their products.
Directron's warranty may be translated as, "If what we ship you doesn't work, tough luck, don't bother mentioning it to Directron, you are on your own, complain to the manufacturer, and pay the shipping costs to where the manufacturer is located, but we won't tell you in advance where that is, because you might buy directly from the manufacturer." Only if you pay more will Directron stand behind what they ship. So the true cost is not $28.99, unless you want to take your chances.
I suspect, and I have plenty of evidence, that when companies ask you to pay more for testing if you want a warranty from them, you get absolutely no testing. What you get is only the right to return a DOA unit to them.
Notice something else about that Directron page. The price is an image, not text, from a different server, yimg.com. Does anyone know why they do that? I don't.
There is plenty of evidence that the people at AnandTech have little technical understanding. Maybe the site makes money by doing things their advertisers want, which may be different from what is good for you.
The first page of the AnandTech article says, "We then ran several exhaustive tests on these pow -

Education? We do that in grad school now. Maybe in your day you could live with just a high school's worth of drinking and fucking, but it's the new millenium.By the time we graduate, there might even be jobs available for us. Today's seniors might be looking forward to another few years of cracked-out pandhandling, but we just can't bet on that to continue.Better safe than sorry, after all. The last time we forgot to pamper our college population, we got the 80s. Do you want another 1980s? Do you? The pants! For the love of God, THE PANTS!
(Actually, 80s collegiates [rich ones, anyway] were nicely pampered. I just wanted an excuse to write "THE PANTS!" and link to than picture. Those are some fucked up 80s pants, man. Shit.) -

I can't help but agree with Jobs
I remember when the Segway was introduced, and it was sooo ugly, awkward and stupid. The first thought in my head was that everyone would look like an ass when riding one. It's as if the only market they could think of was grandmas and dweebs.
It's as if they didn't even try to think about what the balancing tech could do for them, but immediately went to the "make sure no-one can get hurt" phase of design. Of course, there's already been one dweeb caught taking a spill. -

$200?!?
I don't see what the big deal is about this bag, especially since it isn't even for snowboarding. There's nothing it offers that the remote that comes with the iPod couldn't provide. This bag made by Osiris is pretty cool and runs $109 and at least comes with speakers built into it.

Sheep born with pig's heart on its neck
I also think most of you may be very interested in this poor little sheep that was engineered to have a pig's heart on its neck.
That's so incredibly unethical that I can barely read the article. Seeing the picture of the poor helpless animal with another creature's organ on the outside of its beautiful white coat makes my eyes water.
I'm fucking sick...absolutely sick and tired...of these misuses of technology. :-( -

Visor rocks at the plant. As a system engineer assigned to a system that had few computer points for data, I used my visor for walkdowns. I made a walkdown template with mark numbers, point description and units as a memo. When I walkded down a system, I'd just cut and paste the memo into a daily journal. It was very handy to have a few months worth of trend data in my pocket and easy enough to put all of it into a spread sheet (use commas between mark number, description, value). I imagine any palm device could do the same.
The visor's improvements to Palm software were substantial and I completely replaced my paper planner. I had been using calendar creator plus to print a weekly view on 8.5x11 with hours between six in the morning and ten at night. I also kept a rolling do list on the back of the weeks. Visor's "floating events" with attached note pages took the place of the rolling do list very well. The contact list and calculator were also nice to have in the back pocket. It was also nice to have a word search, though it was not as good as grep.
The thing that convinced me to buy one in the first place was a conversation with a spacey peer. As we were talking, his little palm peeped and told him it was time to go to a stupid meeting. It worked better than paper. I was never late to a meeting.
I got fired anyway, but that's another story.

A hot republican and XD
Damn... I wish this hottie would engage in a hot, Extreme Domination session with me. She'd make me lick her boots and pussy. She'd ride my back and whip my ass with a horse crop until my ass was all red. Finally, she'd ream my ass with a strap-on dildo. And when she'd finally let me cum, she'd make me lick my own cum off the floor.

Re:Recalls?
Good god...how many of these things could be lurking about in automotive airbags, ABS systems, or in any sort of medical device?
(Slightly OT)
While not quite as bad, this is becoming a problem in older automotive ECUs (engine control units). The problem is especially rampant in DSM cars (Mitsubishi Eclipse, Eagle Talon, Plymouth Laser) manufactured between 1989 and 1994. I know because it happened to me. All the big electrolytic capacitors leaked all over the place, pretty much destroying the board. One of the symptoms is a 'rotten seafood smell' coming from behind the console. :)
Mitsubishi wanted around $750 for a replacement. Luckily since this is such a problem, refurbished ECUs are available for cheap. -

(It was even a small feature of the movie Die Hard 3...remeber the machine controlling the bomb in the park?)

Re:Disagree with premise
I'm saying that it is only a political medium in the same sense that it is a pro-Christian or anti-school voucher medium -- namely, it not intended as such, but particular viewers could deem it so for their purposes.
You can find messages in many places where none is intended. While it is a Good Thing that some folks notice trends, and can extrapolate -- that thinking individuals can see all sorts of things in a political light (and in other frameworks) -- there will be a large number of folks (including many game designers) who won't see it at all.
I remember a game where you could kill Barney, the purple dinosaur. I didn't play it thinking, "Hmmm...what are the political ramifications of the joint dislike of Barney by myself and the game creator?" My thoughts were more like, "I hate Barney! Kill Barney!" I got a chuckle out of it and forgot about it.
Similarly, I feel 'political' flash games are mostly in the "I hate [x]! Destroy [x]!" category. The insightful are free to notice the trend towards political games, and to project possible reasons for their existence, but I doubt the majority of game creators set out with the intent to make a political statement. Contrast to political cartoonists who intend to get people to think or otherwise notice things. Ben Sargent example (note: link will expire in ~1 week).
Personally, I marvel at the propagation of war propaganda as it spills out of its original mediums and into the masses. Games like this are 'appeals to emotion' and are not arguments of logic nor critical thinking. They say something about how the public thinks, but the main content is that the public doesn't think -- they just vent their gut urges. -
Re:It bothered all along. However,Overreacting is not the word.
You know, I'm tired of this. I'm tired of the neo-fascists who've hijacked the conservative, religious, and libertarian spheres of discussion with their violence-filled rhetoric and blatent lies. A quick wander over to Free Republic or Lucianne (or just a read of Ann "Thrax" Coulter's latest remarks about the NYT and Tim McVeigh - yes, I know it was just supposed to get a rise out of the left, but this is what we saw 70 years ago. Violent rhetoric, violent acts. Today we see the rhetoric, and in some cases, McVeigh and the anthrax mailer as examples, or the mob in the Miami ballot riot as another. And still the abuse, the mindless, pro-violent, abuse goes on, never ending, never receiving a word of criticism from the right's fellow travellers, and even the occasional, as you've shown above, "Well, they probably deserved it" attempts at justification in the absense of real evidence to the contrary.
Here's another one. No baby this time, just some old dear with a placard. Were these bikers or blacks in baggy trousers surrounding her, the stories would have filled the media for months. But it's police, cops, people supposed to be looking out for us, becoming the danger. A discredit to their uniforms, but enough of them acting as one to raise serious questions of how far this can be described as some minor misunderstanding, a nervous cop overreacting at the sight of a long haired youth with a bottle.
In either case, no reasonable observer would react in anything like the paroxysms of hyperbole which you are exhibiting here.
Sure. Forgive me for getting angry about children getting pepper-sprayed so that Bush can raise some cash without seeing a protest. Geez, I really over-reacted. Imagine me being horrified at the solidification of fascism in this country. What a fucked up individual I must be.I'll just calm down by listening to what those nice Mssrs Limbaugh and Coulter have to say.
