Re:Well
A lot of people, and I mean a LOT of people make shorts just for the heck of it; whether or not there is talent, there is artistic spirit, as in doing something when you know you are more likely to get sued than to make any sort of money...
A good example is here; the guy just wanted to do a Godzilla animation with no commercial plans whatsoever, just for the halibut, and the "owners" of the big lizard (no, the other big lizard) said "take it down, or we will send our ninja copyright lawyers after you!"

Re:coral web cache link
Why more people don't use the Coral Web Cache when submitting links in their story is beyond me.
Why more people don't use the anchor tags when giving addresses is beyond me. Clickable link here.
Also, I've seen many corallized sites die on me - no, I won't give links, I don't want them any deader than they already are. Coral Cache is way overhyped.

Pi? A song? Hmm...
"Most people can pretty easily memorize song lyrics and the sounds of a song, but yet the digits of Pi are incredibly hard to memorize. Might the digits of Pi be to this guy be like memorizing a song to most of us? I equally can't explain in a nice rational way why it's easy to memorize a song, but to anyone that can it doesn't need any more explanation."
You mean like this song? -
Coral cache
Coral Cache version (although it's not dead *yet*).
Just like the home brwer temp control setuptaht was submitted not long ago, it's not that hard to do things like that (for anybody with any kind of basic eletronisc skills). The setup is usually quite ugly and sometimes can get fairly expensive and time consuming for a "hobby" project or simple task.
I never tried roasting my own coffee, but I can buy some half decent stuff without having to bother with all this, and it's not really expensive either. Besides, this won't make me espresso pods, which is most of what I'm drinking lately :( -
Re:Website Caches Please?
It seems to be working quite well, actually - it's just a plain HTML page with two small images. It might actually stand the Slashdot effect... but here is the Coral cache copy if anyone needs it.

Evidence, true tsunami story
This sense indeed does seem to exist, there are people who felt something was wrong days before the tsunami hit and left the area before anything could be seen or otherwise felt. A famous couple from Serbia, Lepa Brena (a popular folk singer) and her husband Boba Zivojinovic (a former tennis player and a good friend of Boris Becker's) cut their vacation in Thailand short because they felt something was very wrong. They left hours before the tsunami hit, you can read about it here (http://www.politika.co.yu/ilustro/2399/1.htm - the magazine article is in Serbian). The translation of the relevant paragraph follows:
"I was nervous from the day we landed. The hot and humid weather did not agree with me. My latest bloodwork test results were also not the best," said Brena, now resting from all the vacation excitement in her home in Belgrade. "Boba and I agreed that we should just pack up and leave. On the 7th day we finally managed to get tickets to Singpore, where we stayed another 3 days. At the Singapore airport we found out that the resort we had left just a few hours earlier was totally destroyed by the tsunami, it was washed away as if it never existed. I have had so much stress in the last year that if I were to start thinking about what could have happened if I did not trust my intuition I think I would find it hard to keep my sanity."

Smelly slippers?
Come on. If you are taking the time to build a server inside a suitcase and post the story on slashdot please take that extra second to remove any smelly slippers and crumbled brown paperbags out of the way before you take a picture.
Thank you.
