Re:Spider Gwen is pretty popular
To be perfectly honest, it seems more like those "male feminist allies" are the problem, and since they can't compete any other way they're using the ally path as a means of reproduction.
Now there is a coincidence. I just watched Sargon's video last night. Its a tough slog to get through, but I think he made it that way as an object lesson. Name after name after name - crime after crime after crime. There sure seems to be a correlation between abusing women and the white knights that presumably are male feminists.
Projection all the fucking way down. In a year or two, it won't surprise me if this becomes similar to the "anti-gay firebrand" who ends up being caught engaging in the exact stuff that they were railing against.
Projection isn't that hard to find. Any zealot is of interest. Then if you get into a discussion with them, you're treated to an accusation that somehow some way, you support rape and abuse of women. I've seen that a lot in here. Somehow noting that men will take measures to protect themselves in the workplace becomes misogyny, and supporting men harassing and raping women.
Meantime, I would caution against assigning one thing as the problem. The male feminists and their oftentimes using that status as a way to gain the trust of women, and then abuse them is one problem, but the third wave feminists are also a huge part of the problem. They have been involved in teaching women that all men are the problem, and that women cannot protect themselves, so society and the elimination of due process and the statute of limitations must protect the defenseless women from all men.
And here we are.
Men who are of no danger to women are pulling away from women they work with. A simple risk/reward asessment tells him that even with the utmost of care, it is possible to say something that might be misinterpreted, or to accidentally touch a woman, or to take a normal act of consolation or friendship be determined to be a sexual act. So yeah, he's going to get off the elevator if she gets on it, so yeah, he's not going to meet with her alone. So yeah, anything that isn't directly involved with work is off limits, and yeah, if she's upset about something, he's just going to ignore her.
And while some folks celebrate this great victory, to cop a phrase from Mrs Clinton, the real victims of the new workplace are nomal women.
I would think it would be very upsetting to have a co-worker leave the room or elevator when you walked in to it, knowing that it was you who caused him to leave. It can't be too comfortble to have as little communications as possible with men who are weighing the impact and vetting everything they say for potential of offending you. Or demanding chaperones as witnesses in order to protect their career.
NBC's draconian workplace anti-harassment rules are the way of the future. But even if they didn't adopt that insanity, men would still be treading very carefully.
But again, while thos rules being genderless, and therefore equal, once again, there's a hidden victim. Women often use the workplace as a convenient way to vet suitable men. It makes a certain amount of sense, as you can spend time around men, and can judge whether they are assholes or not. You know they are going to be of a particular education level, how they act, and can make sound judgements. That is gone in the workplace of the 21st century.
And let me say, watch the video. Watch it. Sure it's 30 minutes long, but every single one of the people promoted themselves as "male feminist allies" every single one, and went out of their way to attack anyone else who dared to question the feminist talking points or narrative. Just like those anti-gay firebrands.

Re: Great, I work with lowlife pervs
People who virtue signal to feel better about themselves don't need others to know it's them doing it. Virtue signaling can be for the broadcaster OR the recipients. In either case it's not a useful behavior; it's a lot harder to talk to people while not being a douchebag than to try to convince other people over the internet you're not a douchebag, whether that's true or not.
I figure we're about here in this virtuous interaction now: r/niceguys Top Posts of All Time [3] @ 5:19 -
Re:Spider Gwen is pretty popular
Yeah, yeah, the crazy feminist who runs your local community college's woman's studies program is pretty annoying, amiright? But then you've got Harvey Weinstein.
Ah, just the right place to start. Instead of properly attacking the problem of creepy fucks like Weinstein, the crazy feminists you speak of go the #metoo route. Which is making more problems than it fixes. A world where due process is thrown out with the pursuit of justice isn't going to be quite like most women want.
To be perfectly honest, it seems more like those "male feminist allies" are the problem, and since they can't compete any other way they're using the ally path as a means of reproduction. It's not dissimilar to the anti-gamergaters, who turn out to be committing sexual assault, rape, and calling in bomb threats. Projection all the fucking way down. In a year or two, it won't surprise me if this becomes similar to the "anti-gay firebrand" who ends up being caught engaging in the exact stuff that they were railing against.

Neu! [offtopic warning]
Neu! made some very great krautrock albums back in the 70s. It's still some of the best driving music ever. I like to put this album on when I'm driving down Hwy 101 along the ocean, like I was earlier this morning.
It was 78 degrees here today and people were surfing, which proves that global warming exists.

An interview with the swatter
On Youtube.
The main takeaways:
He's done that many times.
He enjoys "evacuating" (swatting) people.
He was paid for this particular SWAT call.
He understands he's indirectly responsible for the killing and he's ready to serve jail time (just not a life sentence) if he gets caught (he's already been apprehended).

That's not saying much.
When I was a kid, 35 years ago, I had a TI-99/4A home computer with a speech synthesizer (which was actually 5 years old tech at the time). Sure, it didn't sound great, but it was totally understandable. With the Terminal Emulator II cartridge you could build from phonemes directly and thus have it say any English word, and not just words from its predefined "dictionary" of words it knew how to pronounce already. That was 35 years ago, with a consumer grade home computer running at 3Mhz, that a 10 year old was goofing around with for fun.
The fact that we didn't reach "Indistinguishable From Humans" in TTS *years* ago is not saying much for the state of our software.
Here's an example of it speaking... https://youtu.be/0vu1GftX02Q?t...

Re: And compared to the USA?
False. Being a mentally incompetent individual, like yourself is a protected class, and is clearly innate... however religious and political (depending on the state) views tend to put one in a protected class as well,
,despite not being innate.Or can the Westboro Baptist Church demand a gay baker print "god hates f_gs? and justify it under their religious views, and the bakers refusal being an unlawful act of discrimination against otherwise legal religious practices?
I know you snowflakes love the idea of protected classes, you feel warm in your safe space, you just never think through the oppression olypmics you have created.
Odd no outrage when a man pretending to be gay is refused service for a wedding cake as Muslim owned bakeries.... oh right.

Lennart Poettering interrupts Wolfgang Draxinger
I think the video of the year is of Lennart Poettering repeatedly interrupting a presentation by Wolfgang Draxinger. It really gives a lot of insight into the sorry state of systemd and PulseAudio, and in many ways it explains why such software has caused so many problems for so many Linux users.

Do you really want people that still read comic books as an adult working for you?
Or go to comic cons to see their favorite actress and stand in line for three hours to get an autograph?
The techs at my government IT job tend to fall into two camps (depending on location): comic cons or gun shows.

I was going to respond, but ... (& prostate ca
I was going to respond, but I forgot what I was going to say.
That being said, i just had a Space-OAR inserted for prostate cancer radiation treatment. I've been miserable for the last two weeks, waking up every 2 hours to pee, even if there's absolutely nothing to do; it just FEELS like there is. That being said, the annoying feeling is slowly going away as I get used to it, and I'd MUCH rather have this that the standard balloon alternative it replaces.
Even though it's bothersome as heck for a few weeks ( some discomfort may occur? How about I'm always horizontal and can't sit normally in a chair for 2 weeks?) I'd still glad I did it, even if it's the most annoying thing I've ever done to myself.
Older guys, get checked for prostate cancer. The standard routine examination is quick (kinda like you first time having sex!) and even a scan or biopsy isn't THAT terrible. The earlier you find it the earlier and better they can treat it.
YouTube conclusion. I'd highly recommend this annoying procedure, but ask your doctor. This is FCC approved and new -- if he doesn't know anything about it, GET ANOTHER DOCTOR.
This is not a paid sponsorship or anything, I'm currently just an very annoyed and happy customer who's glad I did it. -

The US is a representative republic.
Bollocks, republic and democracy are not mutually exclusive things. The USA is a democratic republic, or more specifically a federal republic with features of a representative democracy where where elected individuals represent the citizen body in government.
So, it's a representative republic. Right, then. o_0

Re:Used to it vs. not
Currently, not a lot of people are used to put doubt into video
I know, I was watching some music video and the artist showed her nipple, and everybody got really exited, and then some mean people were going to fine the broadcaster, and then when they went frame-by-frame to extract the evidence, they realized there was stage tape over her nipple, all they ever showed was stage tape and there wasn't gonna be any fine. That was like, `86 or something.
Before VHS and the pause button, there was no way to know what you were really seeing! And even with it...
I was watching some K-pop videos a few weeks ago and I realized in one scene the performer sticks her tongue out... I'd watched it 100 times before I perceived the uncanny valley and went back to check... sure enough, prosthetic tongue! Angel tongues are too sexy for Korea, they had to wrap that naughty wet thing! lol

That's not enough...
"This includes, but isn't limited to, sites that misrepresent or conceal their country of origin or are directed at users in another country under false premises." A popular tactic for misinformation campaigns is to pose as a credible U.S. news outlet.
How about 'home grown" internet sites that actually manufacture fake news? One such site was mentioned by our president recently.

"Restore Internet Freedom" You Stupid Fucks
You wanna see what FCC chairman Ajit Pai thinks of you? Here is a video he posted yesterday to tell you why you should not worry about losing Net Neutrality.; He posted it on the right-wing website Daily Caller. (for real, you should watch this 1.5 minute video from Trump's FCC chairman, as he reveals he has no idea what Net Neutrality is, and also that he is a massive fuckwit.)
He's telling you all the things you'll still be able to do on the Internet after he signs over control to Comcast. Oh, and by the way, in the part of the video where he does the "Harlem Shake", one of the girls he's dancing with is a blogger who promoted the "Pizzagate" pedophilia controversy.

Re:Do you think they care?
Youtube is already doing a fine job of driving content creators to other platforms. Most people don't even make money off of the stuff they publish since the collapse of ad revenue on YT, and in general online publishing. You don't seem to be up to date or understand exactly how rudderless YT is currently. Comcast on their own has shown that they really don't care about the quality of "last mile" unless it impacts large numbers of people.
Watch MundaneMatt's or Phil Defranco's stuff on it if you really want to get caught up quickly.

Once again, Pete Perkins had the answer
My old pal, Pete Perkins, explained this to me when we first met in Akihabara in 1985.
Pete was a long time resident of Tokyo and had gone through many earthquakes. He warned me to never run out to the street during an earthquake. Tokyo puts almost none of its electrical infrastructure underground. There are tons of concrete poles, transformers, wire and GKW (god knows what) boxes overhead at all times. It's like a giant, surreal spider's web.
It's not something a typical tourist notices, but those of us with many years in Tokyo became well aware of this second "floating world".
Thanks for the 'heads-up', Pete! Hope you are well.

Well, every attempt to negotiate or appease North Korea has also lead to paranoia and weapons development.
Maybe someday we'll all learn that not every situation is like a school exam or a video game where there is a right answer that resolves things cleanly.

Re:Gawker is on archive.org and old posts...
I am honestly asking why should this person be prohibited from purchasing the company? If your argument is based on morality then perhaps you should reexamine the situation.
They likely believe he shouldn't be able to buy them because Thiel isn't left wing therefor can't keep that same level of muckracking that they'd been doing for years. It was only a matter of time before Gawker managed to commit suduko anyway.
The writing was already on the wall for that, the entire buy-up by univision was funny though, especially when all the reporters who say they're bloggers, then claim they're reporters when convenient started quitting because univision required actual ethical standards out of them. And now in this whole situation univision is trying to sell off chunks of what they bought from Gawker because they're money losers.
With the current state of the ad market, and adpocolypse 2.0 now on the horizon? If Thiel is offering money, they'd better get in a head of this ad crash. If you didn't hear anything on it, even more companies are pulling ads from youtube, google, adwords, and other associated stuff. Why? Because their ads were appearing next to the apparent pedofarming videos that were targeted at children. See the elsagate stuff if you really want to know, fair warning, it's massively fucked up. Or you can watch/listen this vid from mundanematt bout 12mins long.
